Selalihini - Let Them Fly
Selalihini – Let Them Fly, organised by the Rotaract Club of Centennial United, is a community engagement initiative focused on improving the living standards of the marginalised communities. With special focus on Education, Youth & Women Empowerment and Health and Sanitation. The Bloemandhal community is identified as one challenged by poverty, sickness, lack of access for primary services and also importantly on high use of illicit drugs within the community.
Agamathi Vidyalaya Colombo 15, the only government/public school in the vicinity was chosen to be served with the objective of creating a conducive learning environment within the school in order to increase the level of daily attendance rate and reduce the school dropout rate. The school facilitates up to eleventh grade serving about 250 students in the area.
The Bloemandhal community is identified as one challenged by poverty, sickness, lack of access for primary services and also importantly on high use of illicit drugs with in the community. We joined hands with the school and the community in order to support the younger generation to grow as an empowered community with better opportunities for growth.
